Summer Snow

Visiting Blois we passed on visiting the château, feeling a certain amount of tourist fatigue, and contented ourselves with a stroll round the old town, where we came across this interesting show at the Maison du Loir-et-Cher.  Most of the works were by two Russian artists, Ilya Gaponov and Kirill Koteshov (for some reason, the Russian website lists Koteshov’s name as Kirill in roman letters and Konstantin in Cyrillic), who work together on enormous almost monochrome canvases.  One floor was full of pictures of children in the snow, like this example

The gallery attendant explained that the colours in this picture represent the actual colours in the industrial towns of Siberia, where the new snow is the brightest thing to be seen all year.
